Wandering into the Unknown

A tale of two souls: The beginning

Abandoned as an infant, Ascella has no recollection of her parents. According to what her adoptive father had told her, her parents were adventurers travelling the star together. After Ascella was born, they realized they couldn't give up their lives as adventurers to raise a child and decided to give her away, before they ventured towards their next destination.Her parents gave her to one of the household's servants who was on an errand in Camp Dragonhead at that time and brought her back to Ishgard. She was then adopted into House Haillenarte and was raised with love and care. By the time she was five summers old, her father had decided to venture outside of Ishgard and learn more about the world, cutting ties with House Haillenarte and taking her with him.For the next two years, they visited one place to another, immersing in the culture of foreign lands. The following three years were spent in Kugane, which Ascella has grown to acknowledge as their new home.While her father gained new knowledge and experiences in life by interacting with the locals of each place they visited, Ascella had developed a habit of quietly observing people instead.As a child in her formative years, traveling from one place to another made it difficult for her to properly develop her social skills and make friends. While she studied each place's culture and way of life, Ascella remained confined in their home instead of partaking in any social activities.
By the time they have arrived at Gridania, Ascella was already ten. Her father decided it was time they settled and put their wandering to rest. And for the next five years, Ascella lived a normal life with her father, being cared for by him and a few servants.While in Gridania, she studied under the Conjurer's Guild to become a White Mage. She had hoped to be of help to her father who has become weak from old age.
However, after five years of a peaceful and sheltered life in Gridania, her father passes on. Ascella, in distraught, completely isolated herself from the outside world for the next two years. When she could no longer bear the loneliness of staying all by herself in their home and without the only family she had, Ascella makes a decision that changes her life forever.In the guise of wanting to become more independent and see more of Eorzea, Ascella decides to leave Gridania and journeys towards Limsa Lominsa.

Along with the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, Ascella dutifully fulfills her role as Eorzea's champion— Hydaelyn's Warrior of Light.Starting her journey as an adventurer in Limsa Lominsa, Ascella joined the Arcanist Guild to become a Scholar and subsequently, a Summoner. One commission after another, she finds herself thrust into more dangerous and more mysterious events, eventually leading to her joining the Scions of the Seventh Dawn.With her growing responsibilities, Ascella had become more reserved, though proud and strong-willed. She also spends what little spare time she has by herself; to recuperate from her battles, and to heal her mind from all she has witnessed so far.She does enjoy spending time with the Leveilleur twins, treating them like the siblings she never had, and sees the Scions as her found family— the people she would put her life on the line for.But even with her accomplishments as the Warrior of Light, Ascella's heart is constantly torn between her duty and her budding feelings for a crimson-haired Miqo'te she has recently been reunited with.

After deciding to leave Gridania, she wandered around Limsa Lominsa for a couple of years, taking menial jobs here and there just enough to survive. Without a home to call her own, she continues to reside at the Mizzenmast Inn within The Drowning Wench. Quite different from the life she was used to, Ascella struggled to adapt with her current way of life. After all, how was a pampered lady of the house supposed to know what it was like to work and live by herself?When some days were more forgiving and she didn't have to worry if she'll have enough to pay for her food and accommodation, Ascella likes to stay indoors for a bit of respite. Most of the time, she fills the pages of her sketchbook with various sketches of people she has met throughout her week. If there's nothing much to do, she would rather be asleep, lest her mind reminds her of the loneliness eating her up inside; an emotion she's been pushing to the back of her mind for the past couple of years.Eventually, after spending some time wandering like a stray, Ascella undergoes training to become a healer once more, hoping to use her healing magicks to help more people in need. She would then head over to Old Sharlayan, seeking for more knowledge to gain.Though Ascella continues to move forward after her newfound resolve, she pretends to believe she finally has her life put together, while unconsciously yearning to find a place and people she can call her home again.

Hello! You're finally meeting Ascella's caretaker.I'm fairly new to the roleplaying community in FFXIV; and although I did have past experiences through forums and Tumblr yeeeaars ago, I've gotten rusty and might not even be as good at it now. English is also not my first language (oh no personal info!), so please understand if I make a few mistakes here and there. With that in mind, I hope you could give me some time to learn and catch up as I interact (in-character!) with more people, both in-game and through social media (Twitter, Discord).Truthfully, I'm just as shy as Ascella is, which reflects into her interactions with people. In-character, it's due to her upbringing as she never had many friends, due to traveling around with her adoptive father in her formative years.Out-of-character, it's just me being socially inept! (｡>﹏<)I respond in-character almost 100% of the time, as I'm a bit cautious when it comes to my privacy and personal information online.
Twitter DMs and Discord are both available for in-character, and maybe a bit of ooc, chat!Please note that while Ascella is open to possible romantic relationships, it will strictly be for roleplay only.
